How can I use JetSplice®?

The JetSplice® splicing procedure connects label webs in the form of an overlapping splice. This creates a smooth transition with no uneven bumps in the label web and also ensures that the spacing between labels is unaffected by the join.

All that is necessary is for your label manufacturer to affix the JetSplice® splice tape to the core of your label rolls before the label web is wound onto them.

Label manufacturers worldwide order the JetSplice® splice tape from Verpackungstechnik Jetter GmbH.

When the end of the label roll is reached, the JetSplice® splice tape is tarn off the roll core and stuck onto the siliconised upper side of a new label roll in the space created by removing the first label.

The label web splice is fully automated and takes place within the specially designed  JetSplice® splice head.

Information for users (ordering from your label manufacturer)

Label rolls fitted with the JetSplice® splice tape can be ordered from your label manufacturer. Your machine operators are then able to perform the roll change procedure without the need for interruption to the labelling process.

lnstructions for label manufacturers

JetSplice® splice tape can be ordered directly from Verpackungstechnik Jetter GmbH and should be applied to the core of each label roll.

We recommend sticking a strip to the uncut pipe and then separating the pipe with the adhered splicing tape to the required web width.

JetSplice - the simple, space-saving system that prevents interruptions to the labelling process

The JetSplice® System consists of the following components 1. a rotatable holder for two rolls of labels 2. the JetSplice® splice head 3. the web reserve for machines that operate at speeds greater than 50m/min 4. a liner rewinder for removing the empty liner without machine stop.
The roll holder can be designed as a rotating plate with two pick-up spindles (shown here) or in the form of two swivelling arms, each with its own mounting spindle. The upper roll is the operational roll in the ongoing labelling process (“running web”). The lower roll is on standby ahead of the automatic splicing process. The JetSplice® head consists of just three component parts. 1. The lower web support, which provides a new label web for the splice 2. The middle web support, which guides the running label web 3. The web hold-down device, which creates a gap (adjustable according to the material thickness) in which the splice takes place. The running web (1), runs over the web support (2) and passes through the gap (3) between the lower web support (4) and the web hold-down device (5). The lower label web now waits for the end of the running web. The end of the running web is shown here with the colourless JetSplice® splicing tape on its underside (shown here in red for demonstration purposes). The JetSplice® splicing tape is pulled off the roll core by the end of the running web. The splicing process takes place in the gap between the lower web support and the web hold-down device as the end of the old web sticks to start of the lower web, setting the roll in motion. The design and application of the splicing tape guarantees that the two label webs are bonded in exactly the right position. At any time during labelling with the upper roll, the next label roll can now be mounted on the lower spindle. During the splicing process and the mounting of the new label roll, the labelling process can operate continuously without interruption.
