The multi-layered splicing tape JetSplice® is already applied to the roll core by the label manufacturer and the end of the label web is in turn affixed to the splicing tape, before being rolled up to create a reel. When the end of the roll is reached, the label web becomes detached from the core, taking with it a layer of the splicing tape, which is coated in a special adhesive.
This surface is then stuck securely to the upper side of the liner of a new reel, either manually or using a splice head, from which the first label has been removed. The result is an overlapping splice between the old and the new label webs.
