The web splice is fully automated and takes place in a specially designed splice head, the:
JetSplice® splice head
The two label webs are connected without the need to halt the labelling machine. The JetSplice® system is suitable for all
industries that label their products using rolls of self-adhesive labels.
In the JetSplice® procedure, the special adhesive JetSplice® tape (attached to the underside of the label liner at the end of an empty label roll) is affixed within the newly developed splice head to the start of a new label roll, thus dragging the new label web into motion. The two webs are connected in an overlapping fashion.
The precision of the splice is such that no uneven bumps occur at the connection and the spacing between labels is unaffected by the join.
The two label webs are connected without mechanical or optoelectronic components. The splice head’s innovative design makes it technically robust, yet eminently affordable.
In addition to the splice head itself, the JetSplice® method requires a device that can hold two label rolls and – in some cases – an additional spindle onto which the empty liner is wound, allowing for a neat and tidy disposal that does not interrupt the running of the labelling machine.
